Region Economy Main Index Comments
Arizona Expanding 66.7 Expansion slows from March, but economy still growing.
Boston Contracting 47.2 Local economy takes a negative turn.
Buffalo Expanding 64.3 Upward trend continues.
Chicago Expanding 65.6 Production, New Orders and Employment slow but are still advancing.
Denver Expanding 60.1 Manufacturing business continues to grow but at slower rate.
Denver Expanding 60.8 Positive trend in Non-Manufacturing business activity continues.
Detroit Expanding 55.2 Production and New Orders expand; Employment contracts.
Houston Expanding 60.8 Employment soars to highest level since February 1998.
New York Expanding 74.2** Activity in Non-Manufacturing sector rises significantly.
Northwest Ohio Expanding 53.0 Regional Manufacturing activity continues to demonstrate growth.
W. Washington Expanding 61.5 90-day forecast rises to 65.2.

* These regional business survey reports use 0 (zero) as their breakeven point when referring to their main business conditions index. The national report and the other regional reports listed use 50 percent as their breakeven point.

** This index is a weighted average of the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors.
